Workshops now scheduled for Summer 08

Musikgarten is delighted to announce its latest publication, Musikgarten Adults: Enjoying the Piano Together. This venture into the world of adult piano lessons is new to Musikgarten as a publishing company, but it is not new to any of the authors or many of our teachers. The publication brings what we have come to know about the joy of group music making, playing songs that are familiar, and teaching note reading in a proven, effective manner to adult piano instruction, while allowing for the differences between young beginners and adult learners.

The new series is divided into eight-week units. This allows for great flexibility when deciding how to structure your offerings. Some possibilities would be to offer it through a music store, senior centers, retirement communities, recreational facilities, or as a daytime offering in your home studio.

Musikgarten is offering 4 workshops this summer on this new program. The locations will be Oak Park, IL, Atlanta, GA, Denver, CO, and the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas. Autumn Keller, one of Musikgarten Teacher Trainers and consultant for the publication, and Mary Louise Wilson, one of the co-authors, will teach the workshops. In addition to her work with Musikgarten, Autumn was one of three clinicians for the Recreational Music Making Seminars, sponsored by the National Piano Foundation this past summer. She has presented at the national MTNA Conference in 2006 and is on the program for 2008.

Recreational Music Making, spearheaded by NAMM, is one of the fastest growing trends in music education today, and Musikgarten’s method was well-received at the summer seminars.
